The 20-year-old midfield maestro proved that he has what it takes to excel on the biggest stages by crowning a majestic performance with the goal that effectively knocked Milan out of the Champions League. Most players would settle for that being the crowning achievement of their career, but we are still just in the first chapters in the legend of Fabregas according to his manager
"You know how I rate him," said Wenger. "I started him at 16 years of age. I don’t like to say too much that a player is the best in the but Cesc is not only a talented player but he is also very demanding of himself
"If he keeps that he will improve tremendously. People forget that his only 20 and look at the kind of performances he produces and what he did on Tuesday night against big players."
When asked whether there is any player that he would even consider switching Fabregas for, Wenger was emphatic in his response: "I would not swap any player of my team because we have the advantage that we have grown together, we have come through difficult times together and I believe the real satisfaction in this job is for the players to create a special understanding, and the rewards together and I think that is fantastic.
"Football is first a team sport and team sport needs time, patience and understanding and it’s not always down to individual qualities.
"Since the beginning of the season I came out in favour of this team because I feel there is a real hunger, a real desire, a real togetherness and a real spirit in the side. They are happy to have won in Milan but they want more.
"We are now in the final part of the season and that is when the real strengths of the team come out."
